Record! Wanda Metropolitano Presents Rp 3.1 Billion Profit for Atletico
Atletico Madrid play for the first time in their brand-new stadium, Wanda Metropolitano, when host Malaga in the Spanish League match on Saturday (16/09/2017). In the match, Atletico won by scoring 1-0 through goals scored by French star Antoine Griezmann.
Not just a victory that made Atletico management’s face smile broadly. The money coming in on the day of the match also makes them happy.
How come? At that time Atletico record the highest number of profits on the day of their match throughout history. Profits from ticket sales, jersey and trinkets in the club’s official store reached 200,000 euros (equivalent to Rp 3.18 billion).
The figure is three times that of Atletico’s previous record against Osasuna at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in April, which coincides with the celebration of the boy’s day.
Atletico began planning to move to the stadium in 2013 with a massive renovation in which the cost spent reached 240 million euros (equivalent to Rp 3.8 trillion). Los Rojiblancos conjured up this stadium from the original capacity of only 20,000 spectators to 68,000 people for the moment.
UEFA labeled this stadium as a four star, the highest category in the list of elite stadiums on the Continent. Wanda Metropolitano by local people dubbed “La Peineta” or in Indonesian means “comb” because of its resemblance to a traditional comb before it is renovated as it is now.
